Cousins!

Delaney and Elliot are so lucky to have two wonderful cousins-Andrew (8) and Hannah (5). Aunt Julie, Andrew and Hannah came to visit for the weekend and brought their adorable 6 week old kitty. Delaney followed Hannah around and only wanted to eat what Hannah ate and do what Hannah did.... Delaney would trade me in for Hannah in a second! And I love it! Elliot got tons of love and snuggles from Aunt Julie.

Delaney Goes To Preschool

Since today was (another) cold day, Grandma B opened up her preschool for Delaney to play. Delaney had full run of the school and loved the 'dress up' purses, hats and shoes. She (unknowingly) played with her great great grandmother's hat and her great grandmother's white beaded purse (in her hand) that Grandma B donated to the dress up collection.

Extreme Bedhead

Delaney is a pretty spunky little girl and her wild and crazy hair definitely matches her feisty personality. She loves to rub her food-especially her oatmeal-in her hair. She reminds me of a little ruffled bird in the mornings. Sometimes Delaney will let us put barrettes and ponytails in her hair and sometimes not..... Grandma B bought Delaney a baby hair detangling spray to try to tame her hair, or at least make combing her hair a little easier, faster and less painful!

Smiley Elliot

I always knew that I wanted a little girl, and when I was pregnant with Delaney and found out that she was a girl, I was ecstatic. It's not that I didn't want a little boy, but I really, really, really wanted a girl. And Delaney has been everything that I ever wanted. But I have fallen completely in love with my little Elliot. I am so thankful that I have a little boy and would order up two more just like him if I could!

My Little Eskimo

Today was a 'warm' 58 degrees in Pittsburgh. You can see exactly how warm Delaney (and especially her mommy) thought that it was! Delaney had a great time watching the runners at a trackmeet today (Pepah is the coach) and exploring the big yard.

Look! Delaney finally is big enough for her carseat to be in the forward facing position. In Nevada, children must be 12 months and 20 lbs. before their carseats can be turned around, and Delaney just reached the big '20'. Delaney is pretty tiny, and Dave and I always joke that she'll probably have to go to the prom in her carseat.

The Baby Charmer

Grandma B worked her magic and kept Delaney happy (and quiet) with seemingly endless games of peek-a-boo and pick-up (Delaney throws & Grandma B pick up!) during our very, very long. Elliot was a champion napper and snoozed for a couple of hours. Delaney has been busy exploring Grandma B and Pepah's house and all of the new toys and the stairs and inside dirt (houseplants). She is a very happy girl and loves all of the attention.

Pictures to come soon!

Going To The Moon

Or to Pittsburgh, PA, but we might as well be taking a trip to the moon. After nearly two months of strategizing about everything from airplane seating to how to unload the babies and luggage from the car, the suitcases are packed and the diaper bags are filled (with Oreos and chocolate Teddy Grahams-bribery!). Delaney, Elliot and I are ready to go to Pittsburgh (with Grandma B's help!). All of us will miss Dave and can't wait for him to join us next week!

So, tomorrow if you should hear about a toddler being removed from a plane for throwing a tantrum.......

Date Night

Since we have such wonderful, responsible and reliable babysitters in town, Dave and I went out (yes, for the 2nd time in one month-amazing!) for dinner and a movie. I love spending time with Dave-he's my best friend.

Now that we're home, we need to get ready for the Easter Bunny!

Easter This Year..... is Sunday March 23, 2008

This year is the earliest Easter any of us will ever see the rest of our lives!

The next time Easter will be this early (March 23) will be the year 2228 (220 years from now).

The last time it was this early was 1913 (so if you're 95 or older, you are the only ones that were around for that!).

The next time it will be a day earlier, March 22, will be in the year 2285 (277 years from now).

The last time it was on March 22 was 1818. So, no one alive today has or will ever see it any earlier than this year!

HAPPY EASTER

Springs Preserve

Two of our favorite visitors-Grandma B and Aunt Lynde-arrived last night. While Dave attended his very important fantasy baseball draft this morning AND afternoon, the girls and Elliot went to the Springs Preserve. Delaney had a great time playing in the train with the 'big' kids.

The Battlestar

Elliot is finally big enough for his activity center, or battlestar (per his daddy) the neglect-o-matic (per a friend of mine). He loves it, and Delaney has been showing him all the toys and gadgets. Laney still is adjusting to being a big sister, so we basically do cartwheels any time she interacts positively with Elliot.

Four Months Old!!

We took a trip to see Dr. Downey today, and Elliot weighs 12 pounds 7 ounces and is 23 1/2 inches long. I know-he's huge! He's in the 10th percentile for weight and the 5-10th percentile for height. Delaney is itty-bitty and her height and weight usually aren't even on the growth chart, so we're pretty impressed with these numbers!

Elliot is my sweet baby boy. He has a special smile just for his mommy that melts my heart. We love him to pieces and can't imagine our family without him.

Check out his purple band-aid from his battle wounds (aka shots).

Snoozin' At The Park

We spend a lot of time at the park. A LOT of time at the park. Delaney takes after her Pepah (Grandpa Ken) and is happiest outside-rain, wind, cold or heat. And Elliot and I are happiest when Laney is happy, so we spend a lot of our days outside.

Delaney loves everything about the park-the playground, dirt, rocks, birds, kids...... Everything. One of her favorite things to do is pick up the trash and throw it in the garbage can. I know-it's gross, dirty and germy, but I'm learning to pick my battles with her, and if being the trash collector at the park makes her happy, then it's fine with me!

Roll Over, Roll Over!

Elliot rolled over for the first time today-from his belly to his back! Hooray for Elliot!

Spring Is In the Air

While I was searching for a non-maternity short sleeved shirt in my dresser, Delaney found a bright yellow dress that Grandma Mary and Gramps sent to her in the fall (I have no idea why her dress was in my drawer-must have been a laundry mishap). Delaney went absolutely crazy when she saw the dress, and to avoid a total meltdown, I quickly put the dress on her-I must say, she looks pretty cute!
